Coaching Practice

Andover Swimming & Water Polo Club operates under the guidance of the Head Coach for the Senior Squad and the Head of Teaching for the Learn to Swim Programme.

The Senior Squad, of approximately 30, is normally coached by the Head Coach. As this position is currently vacant the performance programme is delivered by the Head of Teaching who as an ASA Level 2 Teacher (with Module 4) also holds the UKCC L2 Competitive Swimming Certificate and a very experienced ASA Level 2 Teacher (with Module 4).

The Learn to Swim programme is run by the Head of Teaching who allocates teachers to classes. Each has a class maximum of 12 pupils and is taught by an ASA/UKCC L2 Teacher assisted by ASA/UKCC L1 Support Teacher. The Learn to Swim Programme also includes the Development Squad. This squad is known as the Junior Squad within the Club and consists of approximately 36 athletes, coached by the Head of Teaching who is normally assisted by a L2 Teacher.

The previous Junior Squad Coach is currently enrolled in the UKCC L3 Senior Coach Programme and plans to takeover as Head Coach on completion of Unit 11 early next year.
